I'm not a fan of platformers and not a huge sonic fan to begin with, but I got the game from my Playstation Plus subscription so I thought, might as well try it. 1st off, I've played through 11 stages- including 3 boss fights, and have only played as the character you get to design around 3 times so far. You keep unlocking weapons and cosmetics for the character but what's the point of putting them on if you aren't going to play as them? 2nd- the game design is hot trash. As sonic, you are shown that when you jump an auto homing thing will appear on items and certain intractable. half the time, it won't show up which then causes you to lose speed, get hit by enemies as you run into them, or both. Then, after being shown this, you have the first boss fight. after doing some typical boss attack dodges the boss gets stuck on the floor so you go to jump, but the homing thing won't appear. Well, that's because you're not supposed to jump. sonic will auto jump and you just have to press the attack button. The game in no way tells you this, and I had to look up wtf was going on. 3d- for a game that revolved around a character that is meant to go fast, they sure slow you down all the time. It's literally his catch-phrase. people aren't playing sonic to stop running and do precise platforming, that doesn't even feel good when doing it because sonic wants to go fast so everything just feels off when trying to platform. It takes time to pick up speed but you lose it instantly.
